NEW YORK -- Light Reading today announced the launch of its latest online publication, Boardwatch.

With a mixture of daily news and in-depth analysis, Boardwatch will report on telecom operator software, services, and strategies -- with a particular focus on developments in operations support systems (OSS) and softswitching.

"This is the fourth year running we have launched a new online telecom publication," says Peter Heywood, a Founding Editor of Light Reading. "Boardwatch will give operators unrivaled coverage of developments that are key to their day-to-day businesses. Making and saving money from the most efficient use of their network infrastructures is paramount to carriers, and that'll be at the heart of our coverage."

Heywood is heading up the site's editorial team, which has been built by internal appointments from Light Reading's existing publications. Ray Le Maistre, formerly European Editor at the group's international wireless site, Unstrung, joins as Editor, while Jo Maitland jumps 'aboardwatch' as Senior Editor. She was previously Senior Editor at Byte and Switch, Light Reading's storage networking publication.

The new site will be based on the same formula that has made Light Reading, Byte and Switch, and Unstrung successful in their market sectors: free reader access to daily news and analysis, interactive message boards, online seminars (Webinars), daily newsletters, and special features, such as the site's forthcoming Fantasy Service Provider game.

Light Reading was launched in 2000, followed by Byte & Switch in 2001 and Unstrung in 2002. Plans for 2004 are still under wraps.
