BitTorrent, Oversi Team on P2P

Peer-to-peer (P2P) technology company BitTorrent Inc. has joined forces with network caching equipment provider Oversi Networks Ltd. for application-aware networking gear that is capable of efficiently routing P2P traffic.

The companies partnered to enable the BitTorrent client application to communicate with Oversi's NetEnhancer network management platform in a way that will allow them to more efficiently choose peers. Because Oversi's NetEnhancer is helping to push peers that are closer to the client, the end result is less congestion on the network end and faster downloads on the client side.

"By bringing the network point of view together with the user client point of view, we combine network and client intelligence," says David Tolub, Oversi's CEO. "From the network point of view you're saving bandwidth, and from the end user point of view you've improved the overall experience."
