NETANYA, Israel -- BitBand, a leading provider of video content distribution and delivery solutions over IP broadband networks for Telcos, today announced that global communications company Atlas Interactive, a part of the Atlas Group, selected BitBand's VOD solutions for a large scale IPTV deployment over the network of an Indian telecom incumbent and in leading hotels in India.

The TV over Broadband services will be launched with residential and corporate customers in the National Capital Region of Delhi initially. Hotels and SOHO (small office home office) segments are also potential customers for the new offering.

In the first phase of the Euro 200 million project, known as netTV, more than fifty thousand subscribers in the National Capital Region of New Delhi will enjoy high quality video and TV channels, Internet and telephony services, all based on Internet protocol (IP) technology. Atlas plans a second phase later this year with rollout in 38 major cities in India, including Bombay, reaching millions of fixed phone subscribers.

BitBand MaestroTM content distribution and server management suite and BitBand VisionTM servers were chosen for this deployment based on Atlas Interactive's requirements for scalability and growth scenarios. Maestro serves as a platform for video server network management and content distribution. Combined with BitBand's high-throughput Vision servers, this solution is ideal for managing the video delivery of triple play services in networks ranging from initial small-size to large scale operations. BitBand offerings are purposely designed to meet those needs for Telcos and service providers delivering entertainment and information services over Broadband IP networks.

"Atlas chose to partner with BitBand for this deployment based on the powerful content distribution and management capabilities offered by the field-proven BitBand Maestro and BitBand Vision servers," said Abhishek Verma, Chairman, Atlas Interactive. "The Indian telecom industry represents a huge market for customized interactive-telecom solutions. It offers us an exciting opportunity to provide a customized network model which makes the best use of low cost infrastructure and cutting edge technology. Our aim is to converge telephony with Internet and television content in India, where the potential for growth is mind boggling."

"We are proud to present our VOD (Video On Demand) solutions to the IPTV market in India and enable subscribers in the New Delhi area to enjoy a new spectrum of services based on innovative technology," said Chen Landau, VP Global Sales & Professional Services, BitBand. "This deployment promises great expansion potential and we look forward to closely working with Atlas Interactive on future projects."
