BASINGSTOKE, U.K. -- Fibernet Group plc (LSE:FIB), the bespoke network service provider, has announced that it has signed a contract with Be Un Limited (Be) in November 2005 worth £2.8m providing it with a full UK-wide network to support a national roll out of advanced broadband services. Be piloted its 24Mb broadband speed in London during the summer using ADSL2+ technology which dramatically accelerates the download bandwidth available to the consumer using Local Loop Unbundling and next generation DSLAM technology. Be was the first company in the UK to offer these services.

In support of companies opening up the UK market for low cost high bandwidth services, Fibernet completed a major national network upgrade recently, which increased its network capacity 16 fold to 1.6 Terabits. Both business and domestic users now require large bandwidth not only for Internet use but also for services such as TV broadcast, video on demand, Internet access and VoIP services. Be will be able to take advantage of Fibernet's existing, pre-provisioned 10Gb optical Ethernet services and ensure a swift roll out to capture the market demand during the early days.

Boris Ivanovic, executive director, Be states, "Fibernet was selected as we are completely confident of its ability to deliver. The company took part in a trial through selection earlier in the year and performed extremely well. Using Fibernet's backbone will help us to achieve our aim of building on the success that we had with our pilot in London rolling out the service nationwide. Why frustrate customers by giving them 8Mb download speeds that will need to be upgraded again when we can go straight to 24Mb and allow them access to triple-play services and other applications immediately? Fibernet's backbone network gives us both the raw capacity and the confidence we need to offer this right now."

Charles McGregor, chief executive, Fibernet adds, "Be has exactly the right attitude, pedigree, drive and desire to take its capabilities right to the door of its customers and succeed in its aims. We are extremely pleased that Be has chosen Fibernet's 3rd Millennium Network (3MN) services as the provider of choice for its backbone network and this is due entirely to our best of breed technologies, our strong focus on the customer and our pro-active approach to assisting Be achieve its objectives."
