40-channel 100 GHz device is based on "volume phase grating" technology

FREMONT, Calif. -- BaySpec, Inc., a Silicon Valley Startup Fiber-Optic Company, located in Fremont of California, announces its athermal 40-channel 100 GHz ChromaticaTM Mux/Demux products based on its patented volume phase grating (VPGTM) technology. This is a revolutionary leap forward for the grating-based DWDM devices.

The BaySpec’s athermal packaging makes the newly designed components fully passive. Without the temperature control, the thermal wavelength drift is less than 0.5 pm/°C and the temperature-dependent insertion loss is reduced below 0.01 dB/°C over the operating temperature range of 0-70°C.

With this technology, the BaySpec’s 16-, 20-, and 32-channel DWDMs are upgraded to be athermal accordingly.Furthermore, the devices are extremely compact, much smaller than their counterparts of the thin film filter-based DWDM devices and AWGs, and polarization-insensitive. The devices are designed to fully meet Telcordia GR-1209/1221 requirements. The 80-channel VPG-based athermal Mux/Demux devices are under various tests.
