LONDON -- Band-X, the global marketplace for wholesale telecommunications services, has announced the launch of its independent switched minutes platform in the US. The Band-X Switched exchange allows US carriers to anonymously buy and sell international wholesale voice traffic. Sellers can maximise the value of spare capacity on their international networks and buyers have a fast and efficient way of finding the capacity they need. The new trading floor is part of the expansion of Band-X's switched services internationally. Band-X Switched services are operational in London, Hong Kong, Frankfurt and New York. Today, the company's London switch handles approximately two percent of all traffic that passes through the UK. "Band-X Switched service allows our participants to achieve a stronger return on investment from their existing infrastructure," said Paul Newnes, executive vice president, global switched business, Band-X.

"We've taken a process that was previously time consuming and resource intensive and streamlined it. We provide all members access to real routes where Band-X independently monitors the quality and least cost routing worldwide. Any qualified carrier can now participate in the buy/sell process where all members have access to excess capacity, and monitored rates that give a clear view of current market conditions."
