Revenues of $4.35 million represent a 96% increase over the previous quarter

NORTH BILLERICA, Mass. -- Avici Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: AVCI - news) a leading provider of scalable core routing solutions for intelligent IP-over-optical networks, today reported revenues for the three-and nine-month periods ended September 30, 2000, of $4,356,000 and $7,077,000, respectively. Revenues for the three-month period ended September 30, 2000, represent a 96% sequential increase over the previous quarter ended June 30. Approximately 50% of the quarterly revenue was recognized in connection with the completion of the previously reported AT&T field trial of the Avici Terabit Switch Router. Additionally, results for the three months ended September 30, 2000, include revenue from several other customers, including an agency of the US government. The company reported its initial revenues during the three-month period ended March 31, 2000.
