FREMONT, Calif. -- Avanex Corporation (Nasdaq: AVNX), pioneer of photonic processors that enable next-generation optical networks, today announced the addition of John R. Tyler, a veteran of more than 20 years in high-tech quality operations management, as Vice President, Quality. Tyler, who reports to President and CEO Paul Engle, has full responsibility for the quality function at Avanex. He succeeds Jim Pickering, who has retired. "John's experience in quality management in a series of demanding technology-sector jobs makes him a natural choice to help us maintain emphasis on operational efficiency and reduced time to market and to build on the precedents we have set for excellence in supplier performance," Engle said.Tyler most recently was vice president, quality assurance at P-COM Inc. in Campbell, Calif.Avanex Corp.
