AutoCell Laboratories Inc. has found a new CEO who won't be a new name to those familar with the 802.11 industry.

Eric Janszen, former CEO of Bluesocket Inc. and later a VC at Osborn Capital LLC, has joined up with AutoCell (see Bluesocket CEO Unplugged ). Gary Vacon, co-founder & former CEO, becomes chairman and will still be actively involved in the company, according to AutoCell.

The startup is planning to announce the news on Monday.

"He believes in the technology -- he's actually known about this company for a long, long time," says Patrick Rafter, VP of communications at AutoCell. Rafter is actually another ex-Bluesocketeer. Coinkydink? We think not.

AutoCell has developed software to automatically optimize wireless LAN networks. Once the firm's code is installed on an 802.11 access point, it can monitor the RF environment and swap channels and turn the radio down to avoid network interference (see WLAN: Future Imperfect? and Propagate Changes Channels).

The startup recently revealed that it is working with Netgear Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR) on a wireless LAN switch for the SMB market (see Netgear Plots AutoCell WiFi Switch).
