Atlas Venture appoints former Nortel senior exec Anil Khatod a venture principal

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Atlas Venture, the leading international early stage venture capital firm investing in communications, information technology and life sciences companies, today announced the appointment of Anil Khatod as Venture Principal. Mr. Khatod brings to Atlas Venture more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including 19 years at Nortel Networks. Most recently, Mr. Khatod served as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at Nortel. In this role he was responsible for corporate strategic planning, global marketing, alliances, acquisitions, integration of acquisitions, government relations and advanced technologies spanning all Nortel businesses worldwide.“I am very enthusiastic to be joining Atlas Venture,” says Mr. Khatod. “The firm has a strong presence in Europe and North America, which will allow me to make an immediate impact by leveraging my existing global relationships and my knowledge of the communications market.”Mr. Khatod will work closely with Atlas Venture’s investment principals in both Europe and the U.S. Specifically, he will play an integral role in sourcing and evaluating investments in emerging, innovative communications companies, as well as using his product strategy and management experience to provide guidance and support to existing Atlas Venture portfolio companies. Atlas Venture has made six new communications and IT investments in 2002, to join other leading portfolio companies including WaveSmith Networks, Inc., Vividon, Inc., Trebia Networks and Quantum Bridge Communications.“I am confident my experience will be instrumental in identifying opportunities that will deliver leading-edge solutions that are closely aligned with the telecom market recovery.
