Interphase Targets OC3

PLANO, Texas -- Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), a leading international supplier of next-generation networking technologies, today announced the availability of the iSPAN™ 3676 AdvancedMC OC-3/STM-1 Communications Controller. The new AdvancedMC offers ATM OC- 3/STM-1 connectivity for high availability, high bandwidth access applications, including Serving GPRS Service Nodes (SGSN), media servers, video conferencing applications, ATM signaling monitors, and other applications that require the Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees provided by ATM. Designed for use in AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA platforms, the iSPAN 3676 features dual OC-3/STM-1 interfaces via multimode or single mode SFP optics for operation in a dual active or 1+1 with automatic protection switching (APS) in hardware. The Automatic Protection Switching (APS) feature is hardware supported, enabling maximum uptime reliability and network resiliency with software notification and PHY modification support. The iSPAN 3676 provides PCI-Express connectivity to the host.

The iSPAN 3676 comes available with the iSAR Application Programming Interface (API) to provide a seamless, consistent interface between the 3676 and supported operating systems and eases application development. The iSAR API is supported for Linux and Solaris environments and supports up to 32K simultaneous full duplex virtual connections. The iSAR API is backwards compatible with current Interphase iSPAN 4576 and iSPAN 5576 products.
