Elma Intros ATCA Chassis
To meet the cooling demands of ATCA applications of 200W/slot and up to 250W/slots, Elma has optimized the cooling of its new 13Uchassis. The unit has gone through advanced thermal simulation and testing and meets the requirement of at least 20-30% airflow in each of the 4 regions of the ATCA blade. This ensures even airflow distribution and helps to prevent hot spots. The chassis is cooled via three individually removable fan trays. Each tray has two 250 to 420 CFM (cubic feet per minute) airflow fans with PWM (pulse width modulation) control. A honeycomb air filter below the fans maximizes air intake while a NEBS-compliant air filter above the fans ensures even air distribution.
The fans are also positioned to provide up to 140 CFM airflow over the RTMs (rear transition modules).
Other features of the Carrier-grade ATCA Chassis include rear I2C-enabled dual 50A power entry modules per segment (A and B), and optional PEMs with an integration circuit breaker. The chassis is RoHS compliant with an attractive black finish over the steel construction.
