Continuous Adds DPI Module

SAN DIEGO -- Continuous Computing(r), the only company deploying uniquely architected systems comprised of telecom platforms and Trillium(r) software, today announced the availability of FlexPacket(tm) RTM-COP50, a fail-to-wire Gigabit Ethernet copper bypass rear transition module for the company's flagship FlexPacket ATCA-PP50 packet processing blade. The COP50 is the industry's only ATCA solution that is specifically optimized for in-line Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). Continuous Computing's combined solution now represents the best-in-class ATCA solution for deploying in-line DPI applications.

Today, DPI is an increasingly important network technology delivering capabilities including traffic shaping, service and policy control and security against Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) or Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. DPI systems are most effective when deployed in-line or as a "bump-in-the-wire" in the network and must be protected against failure to ensure no network outage can occur due to the DPI platform.

By including the bypass capability inside the ATCA system, Continuous Computing offers customers an alternative to the traditional approach of external bypass solutions or fully redundant High Availability (HA) configurations. The COP50 allows customers to avoid the cost and complexity of managing extra devices in the network while still offering protection against network outages.
