ATCA/Standard Servers

4:30 PM -- If you happen to be in the San Jose area, we'll be talking up ATCA and related topics tomorrow at ATCA, AMC & MicroTCA: Off-the-Shelf Platforms for the Converged IP Network, which is being held at the Fairmont downtown, starting at 9:00 a.m.

Yes, this is a shameless plug. I'll be part of the morning session, chairing a roundtable discussion about the state of AdvancedTCA (ATCA) from the technology and business viewpoints. Simon Stanley from Heavy Reading is moderating most of the day's sessions, which include talks about off-the-shelf software and MicroTCA.

Murray Cooke from BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA) delivers the afternoon keynote. Other speakers throughout the day will be representing some of the prominent names in ATCA: Continuous Computing Corp. , Emerson Electric Co. , Enea AB , Interphase Corp. , Kontron AG , and Radisys Corp. (Nasdaq: RSYS).

Nortel Networks Ltd. and Sun Microsystems Inc. will be there to add a systems perspective to the roundtable. Separately, I'll finally have a chance to get acquainted with Pigeon Point Systems , something I've been meaning to do since Ernie Bergstrom of Crystal Cube Consulting pointed them out to me last year.

— Craig Matsumoto, West Coast Editor, Light Reading
