MUNICH -- AT&T* will be working with BMW, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium automobiles and motorcycles, across the Americas region under a multimillion dollar communications network agreement that covers locations in the United States, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Panama and Argentina. AT&T will provide BMW with a regional wide area network (WAN) using the latest MPLS technology and WAN acceleration services to create a flexible, highly secure and robust infrastructure to support core BMW functions and applications. The integrated virtual private network (VPN) will help BMW improve and simplify business processes and to develop a roadmap for converged voice, data, video and cloud based services across but not limited to the Americas region. The agreement covers 41 BMW locations throughout the Americas, including the company’s main North American manufacturing hub in Spartanburg, S.C, and the company’s global headquarters in Munich. The new agreement with AT&T builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. In 2007, BMW selected AT&T as the network provider for its ConnectedDrive safety and infotainment services. The company further enhanced these services with a new M2M agreement with AT&T in November of 2012. AT&T Inc.
