AT&T Makes Push Into Cloud Storage

By offering cloud hosting, CDN, and now a new cloud storage product, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) continued its aggressive push into adjacent service areas this week.

With AT&T's new "Synaptic Storage as a Service," the telecom giant will join companies like Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) and Rackspace by offering an online storage service.

Like other competing offerings, the service enables customers to store, distribute, and retrieve large amounts of data without building out expensive data centers or storage arrays. AT&T's cloud storage service will also be sold on a usage-based model, and will enable self-service options for creating and managing accounts.
