BSNL to Split Top Role

NEW DELHI -- Mobile Broadband Summit 2010 -- The current joint role of chairman and managing director (CMD) at state-owned Indian carrier Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) is to be split in two, Light Reading Asia has learned.

According to a senior industry source here at the Mobile Broadband Summit 2010, the current CMD Kuldeep Goyal, who is set to retire in the coming weeks, will be replaced by a chairman appointed from inside BSNL, and a managing director, who will be an external appointment.

The source, who requested anonymity, leaked the news following the keynote address by Goyal here this morning.
