SUWANEE, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq: ARRS - News), a leading provider of multiple system operator (MSO) broadband access for cable telephony, data and video solutions, and EGT, a leader in high-quality digital video processing, today announced that they will jointly demonstrate a Switched Digital Video Encoding Solution at the IBC Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam (September 8-12, Hall 5, Stand 211) ARRIS has integrated EGT's ENCORE encoders with the ARRIS Keystone(TM) D5(TM) Universal EdgeQAM to create a complete video solution that delivers closed-loop encoding with multiplexing, Switch Digital Video, and QAM modulation.

The combined solution from these two leading technology platforms allows operators to meet their changing video service needs. The solution is cost- effective and eliminates multiple elements from the traditional network, lowering equipment count and expense. The EGT and ARRIS video processing products are highly reliable, flexible, upgradeable and hot-swappable, allowing service providers to easily add features and functionality as they grow their digital services. The ENCORE premium encoder can be upgraded to include VBR, DTMF/Contact Closure Detection and DPI RateLock(TM) which locks in ad insertion bandwidth. The ARRIS Keystone D5 flexible, dense platform grows from 8 to 48 QAM channels and is upgradeable to add MPEG filtering, Conditional Access System (CAS), and support for modular CMTS (M-CMTS) architectures.

"ARRIS is excited about leveraging our strength in solutions development into the Video space," said Charles Cheevers, ARRIS CTO, Europe. "Combine the intelligent feature set in the ENCORE encoders with the intelligent ARRIS Keystone D5 Universal EdgeQAM and you get an extremely high quality video solution available today at a very low cost of ownership."

"By combining EGT's superior picture quality, flexible and upgradeable ENCORE encoder with the versatility and capability of the ARRIS Keystone D5, we have created a one-of-a-kind switched video solution," said David Rubin, EGT V.P. of International Business Development. "Our two products do the work of an entire rack. It's that simple."
