ARRIS cleaned up in the E-MTA category in the second quarter, shipping 567,067 integrated DOCSIS cable modems and PacketCable IP telephone adapters. ARRIS' E-MTA shipments climbed a whopping 70% over its first-quarter numbers, securing its position as top-dog in the category with 38% of the worldwide market. In a surprising development, Scientific-Atlanta leapfrogged Motorola to capture the number-two spot in E-MTAs, shipping 343,000 units in Q2. Motorola finished third with 324,000 E-MTAs shipped.
