FREMONT, Calif. -- Ample Communications, a leading provider of communications silicon for wire line network systems, today announced it has shipped more than 500,000 ports of its Harrier family of chips. The Harrier is the industry-leading triple speed multiport Ethernet MAC with oversubscription support. With the steady increase in shipments, Ample continues to be the leading source of oversubscribed Ethernet MACs for the industry.

"Ample's device is the leading oversubscribed device in the industry, and the continued success of Harrier proves our ability to remain a major force in this market," said Mat Steinberg, director of business development for Ample Communications. "In addition to Harrier, we continue to grow with our next generation devices as well. Ample is seeing a period of extreme growth right now as we further build our product capabilities and roadmap."

The Harrier product family consists of two devices: Harrier-24 (A2510), which aggregates twenty-four 10/100/1G Ethernet ports, and Harrier-12 (A2511), which aggregates twelve 10/100/1G Ethernet ports. The chips are targeted for Ethernet switches, security appliances, routers and access devices in enterprise and metro applications.
