GLASGOW, U.K. -- Additions to the Kamelian product range were announced today by Amphotonix, a leading supplier of Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs) and Superluminescent Diodes (SLDs).

The Kamelian Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOA) products, already offered as either a stand alone packaged module, or mounted on a drive and control board, will now also be available in a 19” rack-mounted format. A number of amplifiers (up to 8 off) can be housed in the rack, which features common drive and control functionality. The product will be especially suitable for operators who wish to enhance their network via the addition of ‘plug and play’ amplification at either 1300nm or 1550nm.

The Kamelian Superluminescent Diodes (SLDs), currently available in 14-pin butterfly packages will now also be offered in TO-46 cans. This standard low cost packaging format will be ideal for cost sensitive applications such as optical sensing, and instrumentation.

Craig Tombling, COO of Amphotonix said “We are very pleased to announce these new additions to our product range which have been introduced in direct response to customer requests for our world renowned SOAs and SLDs to be offered in alternative formats. The diversity of the new products shows the breadth of applications now being addressed by the Kamelian product range”
