SAN DIEGO -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) (NASDAQ: AMCC) today announced that its popular nP3700 integrated network processor and traffic manager is currently sampling to Tier One OEMs. In related news, market research firm Gartner, Inc. again ranked AMCC No. 1 worldwide in network processor marketshare for 2003. The company's network processing portfolio delivered a significant revenue increase from calendar year 2002 to 2003. AMCC has held this top leadership position since the inception of the network processing industry, and AMCC network processors are used in a wide range of communications equipment in the access, metro and core segments of the network.

The company's nP3700 integrated network processing and traffic management solution serves as the cornerstone of AMCC's popular MISSION(TM) multi-service switching solution. A breakthrough, single-platform approach to delivering more features across multiple protocols and services, MISSION represents the next step for multi-service switches and core/edge routers, delivering Universal Port Services at Dedicated Port Economics(TM). The nP3700 utilizes AMCC's nP5(TM) technology, enabling developers to deliver extremely fine-grained control of subscriber traffic without impacting the ability to perform complex ATM and packet internetworking at media speeds.

"No other vendor has the breadth and depth of network processing experience and proven track record that we do," said Mark Hunsicker, vice president of marketing for AMCC's Communications Group. "Though many of our competitors claim they have integrated solutions, they still require additional components -- while our traffic management and network processing history enables us to design and deliver high-performance, truly integrated solutions. Our customer-oriented and driven approach enables us to maintain our leadership position in this market."
