Former Nortel prez Cesar Cesaratto elected to AMCC's board of directors

SAN DIEGO -- Industry leader Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (Nasdaq:AMCC) today announced that Cesar Cesaratto, former president of Nortel Networks' Wireless Solutions, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), has been elected to AMCC's board of directors. "We are very pleased to welcome Cesar as the newest member of AMCC's Board of Directors," said Dave Rickey, chairman and chief executive officer of AMCC. "Cesar's 30-plus years in the telecommunications industry, and in particular, his contribution in developing Nortel Networks' global leadership position in the optical networking arena, will be extremely valuable to AMCC." During his long and distinguished career at Nortel Networks, Cesaratto held a number of executive positions in semiconductor IC development, product development, operations, and sales and marketing. Prior to 1995, he was group vice president, responsible for Nortel Networks' component businesses, logistic operations and corporate procurement activities. In 1995, Cesaratto assumed the role of president and chief operating officer of the Nortel-Matra JV in France, and in 1997, led Nortel Networks' European enterprise business as president of Enterprise Solutions, EMEA.
