AMCC is to enable SAN Systems with ATCA-compliant PRS 5G, PRS 20G switch fabrics

SAN DIEGO -- Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (NASDAQ:AMCC) today announced the latest members of the industry-leading Packet Routing Switch (PRS) multi-purpose switch fabric family. The AMCC PRS 5G and PRS 20G solutions will, for the first time, bring greater granularity and Internet class of service to smaller-capacity systems like remote access devices, enterprise networking equipment, smaller-capacity SAN systems and increasingly popular Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) platforms. An integral part of a complete system solution with AMCC network processors, traffic managers, framers and software tools, the seamless upgrade path of the PRS 5G and PRS 20G to high-performance solutions like the recently announced PRS 80G will enable customers to develop efficient, smaller-capacity systems and easily evolve to larger systems in the future. To facilitate the evaluation and prototyping of complete solutions, reference switch boards featuring the AMCC PRS 5G and PRS 20G, respectively, will be available.
