LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- ALLTEL is giving customers a new option for enjoying the benefits of high-speed Internet access with DSL Lite, a service that offers data speeds four times faster than dial-up Internet connections. The company also is offering a new service that lets customers share their high-speed connection across multiple computers without cables. Customers can bundle unlimited Internet service from ALLTEL with a DSL Lite connection for $35 per month, a lower price than other high-speed connections. DSL Lite features download speeds of up to 256 kilobits per second, allowing customers to access graphics-intensive Web sites or download files much faster than they could with a typical 56k dial-up connection. "ALLTEL's DSL Lite extends the benefits of high-speed Internet access to customers who may be turned away by the cost of other high-speed Internet services," said Kevin Beebe, ALLTEL's communications group president. "This bolsters ALLTEL's reputation as the company committed to delivering the latest in communications technology to our customers." In addition to DSL Lite, ALLTEL is offering a new home networking option that allows DSL customers to access the service anywhere in their homes by using wireless routers and network cards. With this service, customers also can share their high-speed connection across multiple computers without cables. Alltel Communications Products Inc.
