SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFOP), a supplier of fiber optic components and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market, today announced it has been awarded three U.S. patents for its proprietary DWDM and related optical technologies. The following patents were recently awarded by the U.S. patent office: U.S. Patent No. 6,246,812 B1 entitled "V-Groove Dual Fiber Collimator for DWDM Multiplexer and Demultiplexer," U.S. Patent No. 6,205,262 entitled "Optical Recirculation Depolarizer and Method of Depolarizing Light," and U.S. Patent No. 6,247,849 entitled "Protection Cap for Fiber Coupler." The V-Groove Dual Fiber Collimator technology allows for the enhanced and cost reduced manufacturing of DWDM thin film filters through the incorporation of a proprietary tunable collimator element in the assembly of DWDM filter components. The Depolarizer patent relates to a unique depolarization technique which significantly reduces the degree of polarization of narrow line width laser sources in a variety of applications. The Protection Cap patent relates to a mechanical device which prevents exposure to high power optical devices. Alliance Fiber Optic Products Inc.
