MADISON, Wis. -- Alfalight, Inc., an innovator and manufacturer of highly efficient and reliable diode lasers, today announced that it has expanded its portfolio of fiber-coupled laser products with its 20 watt Combined Power Module (CPM-20). The CPM-20 produces a high-brightness multimode output beam by combining the output of seven individual high-power emitters. The compact, easy-to-integrate package operates from a standard, low-current power supply. The modular CPM-20 provides a bright, reliable optical power source that is ideal for industrial, marking, defense, telecommunications and medical laser applications.

"The innovative package design for this multi-emitter module provides operational redundancy, making the CPM-20 extremely reliable and long-lasting," said Tom Earles, chief technical officer of Alfalight. "In combination with available specialty optical fibers, the CPM-20 forms the foundation of a modular fiber laser. It is the ideal optical engine to power laser applications that include fiber and DPSS laser pumping, laser soldering, marking, and welding."

The CPM-20 provides over 20 watts of fiber-coupled 915 nm light with exceptional brightness as well as beam uniformity; the output fiber has a 125 micron core with a 0.45 numerical aperture (NA). The rugged and convenient package incorporates the laser sources, fiber combiner and protection circuitry, and mounts easily to a system heatsink or chassis. The unit requires a current of 5 amps at approximately 15 volts, easing power supply selection and hook-up wiring.
