SHENZHEN, China -- Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced that it has signed a strategic partnership memorandum with Intel, a leading global computing technologies provider. Under this memorandum, both companies will strengthen their existing collaboration in technological collaboration, product R&D, and joint-marketing initiatives, to drive the advancement of big data technologies. Mr.Jin Huang, Vice President of the Huawei IT Product Line, and Ms. Rose Schooler, Vice President of Intel's Data Center Group and General Manager of the Communications and Storage Infrastructure Group, officiated the signing ceremony.
"Huawei and Intel have been maintaining a long-term cooperative relationship in the storage domain, which is a solid foundation for the signing of this strategic cooperation agreement," said Mr. Huang. "This partnership once again strengthens our commitment towards continuous customer-centric innovations through strong collaboration with partners."
According to the memorandum, Huawei and Intel will establish a core technical team to conduct cooperation in technology architecture and R&D road map sharing, joint development, verification, and optimization of products, solutions, and cutting-edge technologies. The two companies will also start a comprehensive marketing cooperation in multiple aspects, including marketing strategies, trade fair cooperation, and joint branding initiatives.
Leveraging complementing technology capabilities and strengths, such as Huawei's advanced big data solution based on Huawei OceanStor 9000 storage system and Intel's leading horizontally scalable storage and software-defined storage technologies in big data, Huawei and Intel will develop a scalable storage solution based on Intel's architecture. Backed by Intel's strength in architecture, the Huawei OceanStor 9000 big data storage system will provide industry-leading performance, scalability, and super-large single file system sharing for unstructured data, which will bring higher application values to customers.
