(Nasdaq: AFOP), a leading supplier of fiber optic components and integrated modules, today announced the release of its MU fiber connector series. AFOP believes this new line of connectors will combine the superior performance and high reliability of AFOP’s SC connector family with small form factor configuration. AFOP’s MU connectors feature high-impact resistant, non-flammable polymer, push-pull type operation, scalable high package density connections, small size and light weight. The connectors are available in either 2mm or 900mm fiber type. The MU connectors are designed to be used in a variety of applications, such as: high-speed data communications, CATV networks, test equipment, and high-density DWDM telecommunications applications.AFOP MU adapters are designed to feature the same high quality and reliability of the SC adapter,while also offering all the benefits of small form factor interface. The MU adapters are availablein simplex or vertical duplex in either ceramic or metal sleeves.In addition to the MU series, earlier this year, AFOP released the LC and LC/APC Simplex, LC QuadEMI and LC Duplex EMI shield adapters for small form factor applications.
