Adtran appoints Dr. H. Fenwick Huss, associate dean of the College of Business at Georgia State U., to its board of directors

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- ADTRAN, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) announced today that H. Fenwick Huss has been elected to its board of directors. ADTRAN, Inc. Chairman and CEO Mark Smith said, "We are pleased to have an individual of Dr. Huss' stature joining our board of directors. He has very broad knowledge of global business issues and is well suited to serve our board." Dr. Huss is Associate Dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University where he was previously Director of the School of Accountancy. Also, he served on the faculty at the University of Maryland. He is the author of numerous articles published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Research in Accounting Ethics, Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance and others. Dr. Huss has lectured extensively in the People's Republic of China on business information needs in transition economies. Also, he is a visiting professor at the Universite Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. Also, ADTRAN Inc. announced today that Lonnie S. McMillian and James L. North, who have resigned from the board, have been appointed as members emeritus of its board of directors. ADTRAN's Board of Directors has made these changes in advance of the anticipated future independence standards of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and NASDAQ's proposed requirements for listed companies.
