Adelphia Communications may not be much longer for this world. But North America's fifth biggest MSO, which Time Warner Cable and Comcast Corp. plan to split between them, still wants to block those nasty computer worms and spam from reaching its high-speed data users. Adelphia announced a deal with Sandvine Inc. Mon. to use the vendor's network security software to fend off worms, spam zombies, malicious traffic and denial-of-service attacks. The MSO also intends to use the software to protect broadband applications from competing traffic. Company officials said the agreement covers all of Adelphia's 5.2 million homes.
