MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband, multiservice networks, today announced that the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota entered a final judgment resolving a patent infringement action. ADC will receive $30 million as part of the resolution of its patent infringement suit filed against Thomas & Betts Corporation and Augat Communications Products, Inc. The defendants agreed to the Court's final judgment and will discontinue sales of its products that were accused of infringing ADC patents covering ADC's Super High Density Bays and DS-3 jacks. The Super High Density Bay is a digital signal cross-connect system designed to maximize density and standardize bay layouts in large, growing central offices. The patented design simplifies cable management and streamlines cross-connect wire routing. The DS-3 jack is an integral component to ADC's industry leading digital signal cross connect products. Under terms of the judgment, ADC will terminate its patent infringement action regarding U.S. Patent Nos. 5,220,600 and 4,749,968. "We are happy with the outcome in this case," said Rick Roscitt, ADC's Chairman and CEO. "As a technology company, ADC is committed to research and development, obtaining patents and protecting those patents. We will vigorously defend our intellectual property against anyone who infringes on our patents." ADC Telecommunications Inc.
