GERMANTOWN, Md. -- Acterna (NASDAQ:ACTR) today announced they are teaming up with Innovatia through Acterna's strategic alliance program to utilize Innovatia's LivingLAB(TM) approach to develop, test and demonstrate new Acterna technologies in a development environment and on live networks. Innovatia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aliant (TSE:AIT), is one of Canada's leading research and development companies for broadband Internet-protocol (IP) applications. Innovatia's LivingLAB is a collaborative multi-vendor innovations environment for product development. By providing access to the infrastructure, resources and the networks of Aliant Telecom, Aliant's telecommunications company serving Atlantic Canada, the LivingLAB is a unique approach to generating real market learning for products and services destined for deployment in the emerging telecommunications, broadband and networked multimedia marketplaces. Emerging providers and operators are actively seeking portable test instruments for field technician use for circuit test as part of the network provisioning and maintenance process. To more effectively address these market requirements in North America, Acterna and access network carriers can leverage Innovatia's LivingLAB to validate technology interoperability and to accelerate time to market for Acterna-based test solutions. "Through the combined resources of Acterna test and management products and Innovatia's technology network environment expertise, carriers will be able to reduce their number of dispatches, achieve improved cost efficiencies and enhance the accessibility and reliability of their services," said Tom Donovan, manager of Aliant Telecom's Development Labs.
