CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Accumux Technologies announced today its entry into the telecom and datacom markets after being in stealth mode for over a year and in etalon research for a year prior to incorporation. Accumux develops and delivers high-precision innovative optical components and sub-systems for DWDM fiber-optic communication systems, utilizing a unique patent-pending application of etalon technology. Funded by Smart Technology Ventures, Fortune Ventures, Trimax, and LiteOnIt Corp, Accumux is developing a family of Light Fixers(tm) products to dramatically improve the network performance at a cost effective price with extremely compact packaging. The Light Fixers(tm) family includes Dispersion Compensation Modules, Interleavers (25 GHz-50GHz), and Gain Flattening Filters. The Light Fixers(tm) product family includes tunable, compact, multi-channel dispersion compensation modules (DCMs) which solve the problem of signal distortion due to chromatic dispersion and dispersion slope mismatch. They are designed to work with existing network components, including fiber in use today, thus dramatically enhancing network performance. Founder Pochi Yeh, Ph.D., optics professor at UC Santa Barbara, taught many of the optical industry's top engineers, and was in an ideal position to select the best engineers for Accumux's development team. Dr. Yeh, who has himself written 4 textbooks in optics, approximately 400 technical papers, and holds 30 U.S. patents, says, "Accumux Technologies is leading the industry with DCMs using etalon technology. Our two-year head start on etalon research and development can be directly attributed to the wealth of optical and physics knowledge and experience held by our creative engineering team. Our design philosophy from the beginning was to solve CD using etalon technology, which enables drastic improvements in the number of channels and the bandwidth a single device can handle, along with cost effective manufacturing capabilities."
