UK Enterprise Partnership Secures 5G Funding

5G innovation at the University of Surrey helps secure £5 million investment to boost region-wide growth.

GUILDFORD, UK -- The announcement today of Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) successful bid for £5m of Government funding to support innovation in 5G technology, as a key component of its regional growth plan, is warmly welcomed by the University of Surrey.

The funding, which is being made available over a five year period, supports future 5G growth across the region and recognises the University’s flagship project, the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC), as a key driver for economic growth in the region. Together with a consortium of industry partners including Aeroflex, AIRCOM International, BBC, BT, EE, Fujitsu, Huawei, Ofcom, Rohde & Schwarz, Samsung, Telefonica and Vodafone, the Centre conducts research into the development of advanced technologies for a 5G network of the future, to establish a world-leading position in mobile broadband communications and internet innovations.
