V'fone Expands Japanese 3G

Vodafone K.K. announces it will expand service areas and upgrade network quality of its 3G service; offers coverage to all Tokyo Metro stations

TOKYO -- Vodafone K.K. announced today that it will expand service areas and upgrade the network quality*1 of existing service areas for its 3G network to further increase customer convenience. In the month of July, Vodafone K.K. plans to expand 34 service areas, upgrade the network quality of 148 areas and add 51 indoor coverage spots for a total of 233 additions. As a result, 3G network national population coverage is expected to be 99.6%*2 at the end of July. Furthermore, subway stations of all train lines in the Tokyo Metropolitan area now have complete coverage due to services offered to an additional 23 Tokyo Metro stations on July 1, and the complete coverage of Toei Subways stations in June.
