ESPOO, Finland -- Subscribers of Tele2 Sweden now enjoy faster access to a wide range of high-quality voice, data and real time multimedia services. Tele2 is using Nokia Siemens Networks Evolved Packet Core (EPC) in their launch of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, providing faster mobile broadband.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ Evolved Packet Core (EPC) is the LTE Core solution supporting Tele2’s LTE services in Sweden. Through the introduction of EPC into the Tele2 Sweden Core environment, Tele2 now has a common Nokia Siemens Networks Core solution supporting 4G/LTE, 3G and 2G mobile offerings for mobile data as well as traditional circuit switched voice telephony and IP telephony services.

In addition to providing its EPC, Nokia Siemens Networks has deployed its market leading Subscriber Data Management and Subscriber Repository platforms based on the One-NDS solution, also including HSS (Home Subscriber Server) and EIR (Equipment Identity Register) functionality, which consolidates the subscriber data.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks is also upgrading the existing core network to support advanced redundancy functions and enable a clear path towards an all IP network. The contract also encompasses implementation and maintenance services for these systems.
