PARIS -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced today it has successfully deployed a 3G+ network for the mobile operator SRR. The first phase of this UMTS/HSPA wireless network deployment was made in 2008 mostly in Réunion's Saint-Denis commune and in the island's main towns.
Alcatel-Lucent's UMTS Radio Access Network (UTRAN) and mobile NGN (Next Generation Network)core network solutions allow SRR in Réunion to gradually extend its voice and data services offered to its customers and tourists on the island by offering them high quality mobile telephony and high bit rate data transmission services such as video downloading in streaming mode, access to electronic mail, video phone and music systems and to many other new applications.
"We are extremely proud to be the first to deploy an Alcatel-Lucent 3G network in Réunion; with it we will be able for the first time to offer our customers new high-speed user-centric services, thanks to Alcatel-Lucent's unrivalled UMTS radio access solution", declared Pierre-Antoine Legagneur, SRR's network technical director.
