picoChip to showcase PC960x LTE solution and PC323/313 HSPA+ femtocell devices at CTIA

LAS VEGAS -- At CTIA this week, picoChip is showcasing its newly-announced PC960x LTE solution for small cells, as well as its recently expanded picoXcell range of industry leading robust and powerful HSPA+ femtocell devices. Its first demonstration in the US, picoChip’s PC960x will be on show at the Continuous Computing stand, number 2832. picoChip has also announced its new PC313/323 HSPA+ femtocell chips, while the company’s femtocell silicon will be on show in a number of customer products, as well as an over-the-air demonstration on AirHop Communications’ stand, number MR-343. Furthermore picoChip is participating on the Femto Forum stand, Central Hall 4, booth 3762 and talking on how off-loading traffic to mass-market femtocells will help carriers address the data capacity crunch.

The PC960x is the industry’s first fully-featured LTE development system for small cells, helping OEMs bring to market the next generation of highly cost-effective LTE basestations. Combining the company’s field-proven OFDMA technology and market leadership in femtocells, the PC9608/9 accelerates time to market of small form factor LTE products (“Home eNode B”) optimized for metropolitan, enterprise and residential applications. Developed in partnership with Continuous Computing and Cavium, the system integrates baseband, software stack and RF, reducing barriers to entry for new suppliers developing basestations and enabling carriers to test the deployment of these new network architectures.

The new PC313 and PC323 chips extend picoChip’s proven, robust, operator-deployed picoXcell family of devices. They are complete single-chip HSPA+ femtocell SoCs for eight or 24 users respectively and are scalable to accommodate even more. The new picoXcell SoCs deliver a number of industry firsts, including 3GPP Release 8 features such as 42Mbps downlink and 11Mbps uplink data rates. They are pin-compatible with the industry-standard PC302 and PC312 devices, but extend picoChip’s technology leadership by incorporating the most advanced technologies specified in Release 8. These include multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) to enable the highest data rates, and receive diversity, a technology that is essential to achieve the higher real-world user counts required for enterprise and ‘greater femto’ applications.
