Free Mobile's application for the allocation of the fourth 3G mobile telecom license in Mainland France has been successful

PARIS -- ARCEP (French electronic communication and post regulatory authority) announced thismorning that Free Mobile’s application for the allocation of the fourth 3G mobiletelecommunication licence in Mainland France has been successful.

Iliad is pleased with this decision. The allocation of the licence will enable the Group toextend to mobile communication the technological and pricing innovation dynamics thatturned it into a leader for landline telecommunications. The introduction of a fourth networkoperator will facilitate the emergence of profitable MVNOs and ease mobile multimediausage take-off, for the benefit of consumers.

Free Mobile’s roll-out will be socially and economically responsible, by favouring as much aspossible the sharing of broadcasting towers, as provided by regulations and in accordancewith commitments made by existing operators.

This major industrial project will drive investment and create jobs in France and give a boostto the telecom branch, which will be involved from the launch of deployment in the daysfollowing the allocation of the licence.
