BELLEVUE, Wash. -- 3G Americas, the wireless trade organization supporting the GSM family of technologies in the Americas, today announced that Chris Pearson will now serve as President of the organization. Pearson has operated as 3G Americas' Executive Vice President and senior operating officer of the corporation since its initiation in 2002.
Working closely with Pearson in his role as Chairman of the Board of Governors for 3G Americas, Rod Nelson, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of AT&T Wireless commends the work Pearson does for 3G Americas, "With his professional background in the wireless industry, Chris Pearson effectively facilitates the integration of the organization's strategic initiatives and operations. Chris has had a big impact on the success of GSM in the Americas the past few years by leading the 3G Americas strategic initiatives and staff of the organization."
Pearson's seventeen-year career in telecommunications has included executive management and senior level technical marketing positions at leading telecommunications companies including GTE, AT&T Wireless, @mobile.com, and the Universal Wireless Communications Consortium.

3G Americas announced today the addition of Texas Instruments (TI) to its Board of Governors effective January 2004. Texas Instruments, Inc. will join the sixteen GSM operators and manufacturers from throughout the Americas on the Board of Governors to further the cohesive progress of the wireless industry in the Americas and insure the seamless migration to next generation high-speed wireless data services with GSM/GPRS, EDGE and UMTS/WCDMA.

Also announced today by the organization, was the election of Rod Nelson, CTO of AT&T Wireless to a second year term as Chairman of the Board and the election of Robert Capps, Vice President Sales and Business Development, Siemens, as Treasurer for 2004.
