ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Zenastra Photonics(tm) Inc., the emerging leader in integrated optical components for high performance networking systems, today announced its family of second generation multi-function integrated passive optical devices. The initial offering addresses metro dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical systems and will grow to higher channel counts to address market needs. The components include a fully integrated eight-channel configurable optical add/drop multiplexer (COADM8) and an eight-channel variable optical attenuator multiplexer/demultiplexer (VMUX8).

"The explosive bandwidth demands by service providers worldwide creates a tremendous opportunity for optical component manufacturers, such as Zenastra, who can stay ahead of the rapidly evolving capacity requirements of system manufacturers," said Dr. Peter D. Scovell, president and chief executive officer, Zenastra. "Zenastra today delivers the second phase of our comprehensive product vision, exploiting this immediate market demand for integrated passive devices and accelerating toward full passive and active component integration."
