Merrimack, New Hampshire -- Xanoptix, Inc. is pleased to announce the XTM-1 optical transceiver. With speeds starting at 200 Gbit/s, XTM-1 is more than six times faster than any other optical interconnect product commercially available today. The transceiver interfaces with multimode fiber cables and is made for distances greater than 1 km. Xanoptix will demonstrate XTM-1's ability to dramatically increase the efficiency of optical networks at the Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) conference in Anaheim, CA, March 17-22.

XTM-1 can be configured in several ways. For direct connections at unparalleled speeds, Xanoptix manufactures a 72-fiber count ferrule for MT form factor multimode optical connectors. This allows the XTM-1 to simultaneously connect 36 transmitting and 36 receiving fibers point-to-point at speeds of 3.125 Gb/s per channel. For multipoint connections, XTM-1 uses board-mountable fiber connectors to transmit and receive through 12 multimode fibers with up to six other transceivers simultaneously. As a result of XTM-1's efficient use of board space, high-speed optical networks can be implemented using significantly less space and cost than traditional networking equipment.
