Overview: Telecom service providers are under increasing competitive pressure. They must find new ways to provide relevant services to protect and expand their customer base, while also delivering incremental revenue streams. Upgrading an existing infrastructure to incorporate an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) opens the door to unlimited service opportunities. At the core of the IMS are network equipment elements based on the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) standard.
For telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) and network equipment providers (NEPs), a clearly defined standard is good news – it means a lower barrier to entry, as well as a level playing field. The real challenge for TEMs and NEPs is how to leverage standards-based hardware and software to develop innovative, differentiated products that exceed customer requirements and meet time-to-market demands.
This Webinar will explain how TEMs and NEPs can take advantage of unique commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software solutions from companies like Wind River, AMD, and Sun Microsystems to develop innovative, powerful network elements for the emerging IMS market. We will also discuss how development teams can use the preintegration work already done by these three companies to gain developer efficiency and focus key resources on application differentiation and competitive advantage.
Topics covered in this Webinar include:
• Trends affecting the telecommunications industry
• The ATCA standard
• Carrier-grade Linux
• COTS hardware and software
• Advances in processing power as a differentiator
• Choice and innovation in platform hardware and software
