Overview: Many service providers learn the hard way that an incomplete inventory management approach that does not incorporate all physical-to-logical layers can be a woefully inadequate foundation for delivering advanced services to market, such as IPTV and Triple Play.
Like a house built without a foundation, the result is instability of the OSS environment. The resource management foundation crumbles, and the operational processes quickly succumb to provisioning fallout, manual exception handling, and other inefficiencies.
Fulfilling next-generation services is heavily dependent on the ability to manage logical layer service configuration details, as well as ensuring the availability of service-ready capacity at the physical infrastructure level. The goal is to target the network build-out to maximize the return on new service offerings and network investment, which means capacity must be available to serve markets offering the greatest service uptake potential.
In the most successful triple-play deployments, matching capacity to demand is a function of optimizing deployment of physical resources while enabling the efficient and automated consumption of logical capacity these resource provide.
Join GE, Larry Goldman of OSS Observer, and Syndesis for an insightful exploration of lessons learned over decades of service fulfillment and resource management projects, including:
-Adopting a "lean manufacturing" approach to operations
-Using "targeted build" strategies to optimize network utilization, capacity planning
-Matching capacity to demand patterns with adaptive resource management
-Operationalizing and monetizing the network investment
-Fulfillment best practices for triple-play, quad-play... n-play
