IP Fabrics Plots Course

November 28, 2007 |

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- IP Fabrics (www.ipfabrics.com) announced enhancements to its DeepSweep network surveillance systems that make it the first equipment supplier to support the Cable Broadband Intercept Specification (CBIS). The CBIS specification was released on June 11, 2007 by CableLabs, a research and development consortium of North and South American cable TV companies.

The new specification will assist cable operators and law enforcement agencies in meeting the FCC’s Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) requirements. Industry specifications are important for CALEA because cable operators that deploy solutions adhering to them obtain legal ‘safe harbor,’ protecting them from FCC penalties that would be levied for non-compliance.

"Availability of these products is crucial to both cable operators and the law enforcement community," said Glen Myers, IP Fabrics CEO. "They provide the necessary subscriber security and privacy, as well as the intercept and reliable delivery capabilities that are required for criminal investigations, counter-terrorism measures, and other electronic surveillance efforts."
