PHILADELPHIA -- Comcast Cable announced today that it has promoted Tony Werner to President, Technology and Product, and Sree Kotay to Chief Technology Officer.

In his new role, Mr. Werner will continue to oversee all aspects of the Technology and Product organization, including innovation, development and operations. The Technology and Product team leads the design and development of Comcast’s world-class customer-facing products, including the X1 Entertainment Operating System, second-screen apps, and ultra-fast home Internet and Wi-Fi. The organization also leads software development, systems engineering, next-generation access networks, cloud computing, technical operations and R&D within Comcast.

Under Mr. Werner’s leadership, the Technology and Product team has dramatically accelerated the pace of innovation within Comcast, shrinking time to market for new products and features from months to weeks, and in some cases, days. Mr. Werner’s team created the features that helped the X1 win an Emmy Award for user experience, and designed the groundbreaking X1 voice remote, 7 million of which have been delivered to customers, with more coming every day.

Mr. Kotay, Comcast’s new Chief Technology Officer, joined Comcast in 2007 as Chief Software Architect. In that role, Mr. Kotay led software strategy, including the development of software and apps for X1 and other key products.

Mr. Kotay will take on an expanded role, leading Comcast’s software and technology strategy, particularly as it relates to new customer-facing products and services, including advanced video and Internet. Mr. Kotay will also now oversee Comcast Innovation Labs – Comcast’s advanced research and development group – as well as overseeing the integration of quality engineering into all aspects of product development.
