2:45 PM -- Today's Guardian carries welcome news to those of you who were left distraught, not to say panicked, by an earlier bit o' Monkey Bidness wherein we recklessly passed along the Daily Mail report that "turning on a light at night for a few seconds to go to the toilet can cause changes that might lead to cancer."

Not so, according to Roy Greenslade. Under the headline "Yet more proof that the Daily Mail gives you cancer," he blogs that the Mail's story was less reportage than fiction. He then links to a Facebook list of about 140 "other things that the Mail has alleged are causes of cancer."

The list includes, of course, hugging, candle-lit dinners, and being southern, but some of the items are laughably weird.
