Welcome to the inaugural lecture in the GLOBALCOMM 2006 Master Class Series presented by Light Reading in association with the Telecom Industry Association.

The Series features the leading minds in telecom services talking in depth about their next-generation networks and the services they carry, emphasizing their real-world experiences deploying cutting-edge technologies.

In a comprehensive and entertaining presentation, Joe Weinman, VP of Strategy and Emerging Services at AT&T, delivers his view of the next-generation network, discussing in-depth the issues facing both service providers and enterprise users and how AT&T is developing new and innovative solutions for its network and customers.

This presentation covers how the NGN is evolving into a multilayer, on-demand utility; the coming transformation of the network as a global grid; the benefits of the network becoming a home for services and applications; and increased integration of end-to-end security and management for the network.

Also included are exclusive insights into new developments in enhanced network intelligence and the development of intelligent routing service control points, plus how the next-generation network may become the enabler for next-generation search.
