It's a tough market when you consider some of the companies that got into it and then got out -- BigBand and Terayon among them, though I'd argue that BBND was a bit hasty in its decision.  But it's good that there's a smaller company with some financial backing in the mix to keep Cisco, Arris and Moto in check, or at least fill enough of the gaps to make this business sustainable for a company like Casa. And the market may be ripe for other CMTS-related startups, or so we're hearing, so that's a good sign. JB

It's always been interesting to see Casa--the only vendor to have attained the full, permanent D3 qualification, as best I know--pushing ahead various leading edges. But gaining market share, as you note in the interview, is another matter when competing with the big boys.
